Taxes are an important constituent of any country which helps the country make progress and do essential development in the country, and the tax system was basically introduced to bring some sort of equality to the society, since the person earning more income is asked to pay a higher tax and similarly the person earning lesser income is asked to pay lesser tax.

Though for a person, taxes act as a liability to any person, where to reduce the burden of taxes to an individual the government has also provided various tax saving schemes which can help a person to save tax and also help in saving for his future.

There are various tax deductions available under the income tax laws of India in the name income tax sections with various forms of tax saving instruments available in the country. Similarly, the tax saving depends on the instrument which a person is using, where the different saving schemes and the rebate provided under these vary and is bifurcated into various income tax sections. Let us look at details on the various sub sections on income tax in India under section 80.

Tax Deduction Sections

Section 80C

The Indian families and the individuals are eligible for various income tax rebates under Income Tax Section 80C, where the individuals can make a tax deduction of up to 1 lakh 50 thousand on the yearly earnings. This 1.5 lakh of savings under section 80C can be further divided into sub sections such as section 80C, section 80CC, and Section 80CCD and other as mentioned, where the below are some of the savings included under section 80C

  • Life insurance payment which could be made for self, spouse or any or children.
  • Payments made towards the provident fund
  • Payments made towards the tuition fee to educate the children (this is applicable to  a maximum of 2 children)
  • Payments made for the buying or building of the home.
  • Payments made towards the fixed deposits for a tenure of 5 years.

Other than this, there are various other saving schemes which offer tax deductions such as mutual funds (ELSS), Specific bonds which are ‘tax saving’, senior citizen saving schemes, etc.

Other than this, knowledge of various sub sections under section 80C can help every one (employees, business persons and self employed) to manage his/her incomes in a better way, let’s have a look at all the income tax sub sections under 80C and their facilities

Section 80CCC

As per the Income tax Act, the section 80CCC provides an individual to invest in any LIC or any other insurance plan allowing the deduction for the amount invested should be an annuity plan and must be from receiving a pension from that plan, but where the pension fund allowance under 80CCC received from the person on surrender of the plan is taxable at the time of receipt of the accrued amount, and in this Section, one can invest a premium limit as high as 1.5 lakh under 80CCC which is the total allowable deduction range of income tax act.

Section 80CCD

The Income Tax Act Section 80CCD is the sections which talk about the deduction about the contribution made towards the pension account and this 80CCD is divided in two parts as 80CCD 1 and 80CCD 1B.

Section 80CCD 1

This sub section 80CCD 1 of Income Tax act talks about the employee’s contribution, under this, an individual can make a contribution towards his pension account only, where the maximum deduction limit than a person can make is 10% of the net income in case of an employee and 20% of the gross income in case of a self employed or a maximum saving of 1.5 lakhs whichever is lesser.

Section 80CCD 1B

This 80CCD 1B sub section refers to an additional deduction to which an employee can make for up to 50,000 towards the NPS (National Pension Scheme) account and this is the amount which is over and above the normal deductions which a person can do and under this Section 80CCD 1B of Income Tax, one can also make a contribution towards ‘Atal Pension Yojana’.

Section 80CCD 2

As per the Income Tax Act Section 80CCD 2, there is another provision for deduction of income tax, wherein an employer can make an additional contribution towards the employee’s pension account and the employer can make a contribution of up to 10% of the salary of the employee and does not have any cap on the monetary amount that can be contributed.

Section 80CCF

This section can be used by both the individuals as well as the undivided families, and this Income Tax Section 80CCF gives the provision of tax deduction on subscribing long term infrastructure bonds which have been declared by the government, where an individual can make a maximum deduction of up to 20,000 under this 80CCF.

Section 80CCG

The section 80CCG is not eligible for all the individuals, but for specific individuals, the section allow for a deduction amount of up to 25,000, where the act allow for saving made into certain equity schemes as declared by the Government of India and however, the income tax saving that can be used is 50% of the amount invested in the equity schemes to a maximum of Rs. 12,500 in a financial year.

Apart from 80C sections of Income Tax, many times 80 C sections is not enough to achieve desired deductions using the tax saving instruments, for this Section D talks about the expenditures done on the healthcare both directly and indirectly, So, we will discuss all about the section and sub sections of Income Tax Act 80D.

Section 80D

The Income Tax section 80D talks about the deductions made under the health insurance schemes, where an individual can take a deduction exemption of up to Rs 25,000 for the insurance plan taken for self, spouse or dependent children, and additionally under this section 80d of income tax act, a person can also avail the deduction for the insurance plan taken on the name of his parents for a maximum limit amount of 25,000, but to cover this condition, the parents should be lesser than the age of 60 years. However, under the case, both the taxpayer and the parents are above 60 years, in such cases, Section 80D allows the individual to avail the income tax deduction of up to 1,00,000 rupees as a limit.

No separate portal is available for employees to change BSNL ERP login password or to unlock the services on the login page. So, if you want to access your BSNL Pay Scale details, personal information and medical claims, just enter into the SAP netweaver login portal and change or reset the ESS BSNL employee login password with the following simple process.

How to Reset BSNL ERP login password by Employee

  • Open your Google Chrome browser in Desktop or Mobile to login into eportal.erp.bsnl.co.in/irj/portal
  • Click on Reset Here available at SAP netweaver portal login page
  • A new Logon Help App page will open to enter the personal information
  • Enter your ERP Logon ID (your HR number by ignoring first digit)
  • Enter registered Email
  • Click Submit
  • With in one or two minutes, your new BSNL ERP password will sent to your registered email.
  • Open your email account and check the mail in Updates or Inbox folders.
  • Copy the new system generated BSNL ERP default password
  • Open your BSNL ERP IRJ portal and enter your user as your HR number and password as newly generated > Press Logon
  • A new page will open to enter your old and new password details
  • Paste your BSNL ERP default password in old password option.
  • Enter your new login password and Confirm password as same with combination of alphabet, numeric and special characters.
  • Click Change

How to reset BSNL ERP Locked Password

Due to multiple attempts in three variations, BSNL ERP SAP netweaver portal login page locked, and at that time, there is no option to employee for BSNL ERP password recovery or to reset the authentication failed password in locked SAP portal.

In this situation, BSNL employee must approach concerned ERP nodal officer of SSA for BSNL ERP password reset from locked status. After resetting the same from authorities, employee allows to change BSNL ERP default password again with new.

In the above two cases, you will immediately allowed to login to BSNL ERP Portal with new login credentials by changing the default password.

If an employee or the user of BSNL ERP portal attempts the login with wrong user id for 3 multiple attempts, then it will be locked automatically, but the same will release after 24 hours / next day for login to attempt for another 3 times. So the user have a chance to attempt the BSNL ERP login with incorrect password at 3 attempts everyday.

To keep SAP ESS portal member login services more secure, any employee may change the BSNL ERP login password once every 30days and the same login password does not repeat for the last three changes.

Employee Income Tax includes on

For an employee in BSNL or any organization, the Salary for the purpose of income tax includes different forms of receipts like Basic Pay, Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA), Honorarium, Advance of pay, Leave salary, OTA, Tuition fees, Bonus, Subsistence Allowance, Value of rent free quarters, Fees, Pension other than family pension and House Rent Allowance with provision for exemption.

Employee Income Tax exemption on

The Salary of an employee allows the tax exemption for income tax purpose does not include LTC, Reimbursement of Medical Expenses (subject to limitations) Conveyance allowance, Transport allowance (up to Rs. 1400 per month), Children’s educational allowance, Hostel subsidy, and cash equivalent of leave salary paid at the time of retirement.

For the two instances (Income Tax includes and Tax exemption under different sections), the salary for the financial year will be any amount mentioned above due or drawn, which is whether paid or not from 1st April to 31st March is taken into account.

TAX EXEMPTION ON VARIOUS ITEMS

Have a look at various tax exemption items for employee

Income Tax Exemption for HRA

No tax exemption in case the employee lives in his own house or does not pay any house rent or the house rent does not exceed 10% of his salary, means the HRA received is taxable income in full.

If the employee is living in rented house, he/she will get the tax exemption for

  1. Actual HRA received or
  2. Rent paid in excess of 10% of Salary or
  3. 50% of salary if living in Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai or
  4. 40% of salary in living in any other place

The above four cases are considered for employee income tax exemption and the amount of exempted is to be deducted from the total salary.

Tax exemption for Rent Free Accommodation

If an employee is provided with rent free quarters of unfurnished, the licence fee of the quarters should be added with income, where if furnished, besides the licence fee, 10% per annum of the original cost of furniture or actual hire charges, if hired, will be added to the salary at 15% of taxable emoluments will be treated as perks in respect of employees who were observed or on deputation living in government or PSU accommodation for the purpose of calculation of Income Tax and the exemption.

Professional tax exemption

The actually paid profession tax should be allowed for tax exemption during the year is to be deducted from gross salary of the employee.

Deduction of Income Tax or Exemption (Before arriving taxable income) under Section 80

  • For the individuals who have less than 60 years can have a tax exemption in deduction of premium up to a limit of Rs 15000 paid by cheque for medical insurance of any insurance company in India, where for senior citizens, it is up to Rs. 20000 per annum is to be deducted under the income tax act Section 80D.
  • For incurring expenditure in treatment / maintenance / rehabilitation of any dependent relative who is suffering from permanent physical disability including blindness and Rupees 1 Lakh limit is allowed for income tax exemption in the case of severe disability under Section 80DD.
  • Where an individual actually allowed a tax exemption of Rs. 40,000 for any expenditure include for medical treatment to himself or his dependent relative suffering from diseases like cancer or AID, chronic renal failure and for Senior citizens, the income tax exemption limit is allowed up to Rs.60,000 under section 80DDB.
  • Any donation deducted from employee pay bill for specific purposes as per condition specified will be allowed without limit for tax exemption under section 80G.
  • An amount of Rs 50,000 limit per financial year is allowed for tax exemption limit, if the assessee is physically handicapped partially blind to be certified by the Government doctor as per the norms prescribed for this purpose by CBDT (80 U), and Rs. 1,00,000 is allowed for income tax exemption, if the assessee is with severe disability.
  • Amount of Rs.5000 or one fifth of employee salary whichever is less, is allowed for tax exemption under Income Tax Act for Entertainment allowance received by the employee in the under Section 16.
  • Under Section 80E, an amount of Rs. 40,000 is allowed for tax exemption on repayment of Interest on loan of self children to higher education.

Different Income Tax Slabs

Government of India has divided the individuals into three different groups according to the age of all genders and levied the income tax on individual taxpayer with different slabs of income tax rates as mentioned below, and such tax slabs and tax exemption are changed in every budget as per the requirement and announced by GOI, so let’s have a look at the different categories of individual taxpayers and the slabs of each category

  1. Individuals of all kinds below the age of 60 years of age, there is an income tax exemption limit up to Rs. 2,50,000.
  2. Senior Citizens / Pensioners of all kinds from 60 years to 80 years of age by allowing the tax exemption up to a limit of Rs 3,00,000.
  3. Super Senior Citizens / Pensioners above 80 years of age allowed the income tax exemption up to a limit of Rs 5,00,000.

  • Login to eportal.erp.bsnl.co.in/irj/portal with your allotted user id and password
  • Click Employee Self Service > Pay Information
  • Press Income Tax Report and enter the financial year in the respective field and click Display Income Tax PDF
  • Save the Income TAX PDF document on your downloads / where your required.

An employee of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited can request 6 types of following nature of leaves (Casual Leave, Commuted Leave, Earned Leave, Half Pay Leave, Restricted Leave and Station Leave Headquarters in online during the period of absence to their duties through BSNL employee self care portal like this after login into the BSNL ESS portal

  • Click Leave > Leave Request
  • BSNL ERP display your employee details (Name, Designation, Mobile number) by allowing you to submit a request for leave
  • Select the Nature of leave (BSNL ERP shows you the balance leave of selected nature)
  • Click on Start date and End date of leave
  • Select Station leave (applicable only, if you desired to leave the head quarters)
  • Present the Reason for leave in the respective field
  • Click Check at the bottom left, (If there is no error in submission, the it gives a message Validation successful, No errors found! and displays the Approver details at middle right)
  • Click Send (The leave flow takes place according to the leave type after approval of the leave)

Submit Joining Report in BSNL ERP after returned to duty

BSNL ERP ESS portal also provides Joining Back Form in the SAP Login to complete the leave after availing Earned leave / Commuted leave or HPL, after the submission of joining report and necessary approval of concerned authorities only, the submitted leave will successful posted in all the service records of BSNL employee, have a look at how to submit joining report in BSNL ERP leave portal.

Extend Leave in ERP portal

An employee of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited can extent the availed leave before completion of leave spell, but this option can avail by the employee in BSNL ERP portal only after sanction of the applied leave (EL / Commuted Leave / HPL) by the controlling officer.

Leave History in BSNL ESS

Having a check on leave details in the form of leave history report which give the information about the total employee leave in ESS portal for which the leave already availed by a BSNL employee through ERP login, where here in this leave history report, an employee can check the balance leave against each quota also.
